Eight World Championships, Sixteen U.S. Championships, and the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. When it comes to prestigious events, Timberline Timing Systems has both the experience and technology for any race.
Timberline Timing Systems (TTS) was born out of a need for a more efficient and accurate timing system particularly for larger events. Prior to technology-based race timing, events were manually timed by funneling athletes into chutes for bib stub collection and results processing. This method of race timing often resulted in long lines and inaccurate results, frustrating athletes and diminished their race experience.
In response, TTS introduced ChampionChip™ Electronic Chip Timing as a solution to difficult timing systems of the past. This kind of electronic timing connected a timing chip to a racer. Whenever a participant crossed particular sections of a course, chip information would be captured and transmitted into the event database. This created the first state-of-the-art systems for timing that provided both speed and accuracy. TTS first introduced this system at the 1996 Chicago Triathlon, and the modern era of electronic race timing was born.
In 1999, TTS debuted real-time, online data capture at both the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon and the Ironman™ Triathlon World Championships in Hawaii. For the first time in history, spectators could follow an athlete's progress online in real time, a monumental leap leading to the current race timing systems of today. In 2006, TTS added live text messaging and video feeds to its technology capabilities in partnership with Accenture at the Accenture Chicago Triathlon.
Today, Timberline Timing Systems continues to use state-of-the-art race timing equipment and unsurpassed technology. Devoted to being the best in athletic race timing, TTS will provide superior service for you and your event.
